Abstract
ABSTRACT Wendy Biliam. The Smoker Persistence Behavior Indonesian Case 2009-2014. Cooperative Economics Education, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, 2016. The purpose of this research is to look how the impact of cigarettes price, Income per capita, and Cigarettes past consumption can affect Cigarettes present consumption in Indonesia. The data was taken in this study is a monthly data of BPS and the Directorate of Custom from Ministry of Finance which covers the period 2009 (1) through 2014 (12). This study used a simple multiple linear regression model using Eviews 8 application, the data show that the cigarettes price was not significant affecting consumption about 0.27 with a negative coefficient -1.50 and shows that consumer or smoker didn’t pay attention for cigarettes price when consuming the product. As for the Income per capita is 0.0438 with a 1.76 of positive coefficient and shows that income per capita have an impact with cigarettes consumption, As for the past consumption was not significant about 0.85 with 0.02 of positive coefficient then explained the consumption.. So it can be conclude that the cigarettes consumption in Indonesia only affected by income per capita and the smoker don’t pay attention to the cigarettes price and past consumption as well.
