Abstract

PUTRI SUCI BUDI LESTARI. Correlation Between Authorithative Parenting With Independence In Grade XI Student of Accounting Department Jakarta 12 Vocational High School. Faculty of Economic State University of Jakarta. 2013. This research aims to determine the correlation between authoritative parenting adopted by parents with independence in grade XI student of Accounting Department SMK 12 Jakarta. hypothesis of this research is "there is a relationship between authoritative parenting with independence in students". This research using a survey method with the correlational approach as research’s method to determine the correlation of authoritative parenting (variable X) to independence (variable Y). technique of collection data of two variables in this research using a questionnaire with 46 statements for authoritative parenting instrument and 42 statements for instrument independence. The questionnaires were distributed to 60 respondents, they are grade XI student of Accounting Department 12 Jakarta Vocational High School. Based on the results of this research, obtained the regression equation Y = 75.80 + 0.43 X which indicates that the estimated regression of Y on X is normally distributed which evidenced by the results of the calculation L o (0.0565) <L (0.114). besides of normal, the regression equation is also a linear form and significant, this statement evidenced by the F value (1.28) <F table (1.99) for linier form and F t (4,00) for significancy. In calculating the correlation coefficient and the significance of the correlation coefficient, obtained results that there is a significant positive correlation between authoritative parenting with independence in students. This is evidenced by counting the correlation coefficient using Pearson product moment formula that show r xy value 0.447 and counting the significance of the correlation coefficient obtained t hitung (3.801)> t (1,67). Beside that, the calculation of the coefficient determination shows 20% as the result. This is can be interpreted that the authoritative parenting style contributed 20% of the students' independence. Based on the calculation of research results it can be concluded that there is a 20% significant positive correlation between authoritative parenting with independence at the grade XI student of Accounting Department 12 Jakarta Vocational High School.
