Abstract

ABSTRACT Nova Dian Pratiwi. The Effect of Budget Deficit and the Exchange Rate of Rupiah to Inflation in Indonesia. Faculty of Economics, State University Of Jakarta. 2012. This research conducted to determine how big the effect of budget deficit and the exchangerate of rupiah either simultaneously or partiallyon to inflation. The resources in this study is the budgetdeficit data from FinancialReportsthe Ministry of Finance, the exchange rate obtained from the Economic and Financial Statistics Bank Indonesia (SEKI-BI) and data on the inflation from the Economic Indicator Reports BPS (Badan Pusat Statistik). The research method used is Expose Facto and analysis Model of the multiple linier regression analysis by the method of OLS (Ordinary Last Square). From the hypothesis tests stated that the F test, the independent variables budget deficit(X1) and the the exchange rate (X2) effecton inflation simultaneously(Y), where Fhitung >Ftabel then Ho is rejected and Ha accepted, which means that overall-factor independent variable factors simultaneously influence on inflation, with Fhitung (6,358) > Ftabel (4,08) and level of significance is 0,004 under 0,05 which the R Square 0,251 or 25,1% while the remaining 74,9% is explained by other variables are not included in the model. The analysis explains that there are positive and significant impact of the budget deficit level variables (X1) to inflation (Y). Retrieved t count 3,016 >2.0195 ttable with significance level < 0,05. So this shows that the budget deficit variable (X1) a significant positive effect on the inflation rate while the exchange rate variable (X2) has t count -3,335 > -2.0195 ttable with significance level<0,05. This translates into a negative and significant effect on the rate of inflation.
