Abstract

ABSTRACT WIDIYA AYU SITA RESMI. The influence GDP and Real Wage Labor Absorption Against the Manufacturing Sector In Indonesia Year 2000-2010. Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta. 2012. The industrial sector used as a leading sector which means the industry will spur the development and raised the other sectors. Economic development leading to industrialization can be used as the driving force of economic growth and also in providing employment opportunities for residents to meet the labor market.Industrial sector contribution to GDP is also a large. According to data from the BPS, the average industrial sector's contribution to Indonesia's GDP in 2000-2007 reached 27,07 percent. So that the industrial sector is an important sector for the economy of Indonesia. The industrial sector is believed to be the sector that could lead other sectors in an economy to progress, industrial products always have the power exchange high or greater, or more profitable and create value greater than the product-products of other sectors. This is because the industry variations in manufacturing has a very diverse and capable of providing a high marginal benefit to the users . Supported by the abundant human resources, the industrial sector is expected to be able to absorb a large labor force. In fact employment in the industrial sector is less able to absorb high labor. The sector was ranked only third in the absorption of its workforce after agriculture and wholesale trade, retail, restaurants, and hotels. As a leading sector, industrial sector should be able to absorb much labor, but in reality is not so. Needed improvements in policy in the industrial sector and improve the balance of labor in the industrial sector, which will reduce the number of unemployed. In terms of efforts to increase employment in the industrial sector, there are many things that influence. Therefore, this study aims to determine how much influence Indonesia's GDP in the industrial sector to industrial sector employment in Indonesia, as well as measuring the effect of real wages of industrial workers to the industrial sector employment in Indonesia The study was conducted using secondary data, Time Series in 2000 - 2010 (quarterly). This study uses two methods of approach, expose facto method for examining how the influence of the industrial sector GDP and real wages of industrial sector employment. While quantitative methods to analyze the data in this study is the method of Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The software is used during the data entry process is to use Microsoft Excel 2007, while at the time of processing the data using Eviews 5. The results showed that the variables Gross Domestic Product (GDP) industrial sector has a positive and significant impact on employment in the industrial sector, while real wages have a negative and significant impact on employment in the industrial sector of Indonesia. Based on the regression of the primary independent variable, namely: industry GDP (X1), the real wages of industrial workers (X2) is jointly significant effect on employment in the industrial sector of Indonesia
