Abstract

ABSTRACT Melliawati, 2016: The Effect of Institutional Ownership to Dividend Policy of Financial Company in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and Bursa Malaysia at The Period 2010-2014. Thesis, Jakarta: Concentration of Financial Management, Study Program of Management. Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of institutional ownership to dividend policy of financial companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and Bursa Malaysia from 2010 to 2014. This study uses 59 IDX companies and 30 Bursa Malaysia companies’ financial report. Two models are presented for this study; the first one is regression logistic analysis using dummy dividend policy as dependent variable and the second one is panel regression analysis using dividend payout ratio as dependent variable with Random Effect Model approach. This study uses leverage, growth, size, and free cash flow as control variable. The results of this study show that the first model indicates that institutional ownership has negative insignificant effect on dividend payment decision in Indonesia and Malaysia’s financial companies; whereas the second model indicates that institutional ownership has negative significant effect on dividend payout ratio in Indonesia and Malaysia’s financial companies. Keywords: Financial Company, Institutional Ownership, Dividend Policy, Size, Growth, Leverage, Free Cash Flow.
