Abstract
ABSTRACT TASYA PRASTIKA, The Influence of Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Nonperforming Loan (NPL), operating expense to operating income (BOPO), Net Interest Margin (NIM) and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) Toward Banking Performance (study of commercial bank in Indonesia and Malaysia Period 20092013). Faculty of Economics. State University of Jakarta. 2015. This research conducted to compare Return on Assets (ROA), Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Non Performing Loan (NPL), operating expense to operating income (BOPO), Net Interest Margin (NIM), and Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) between banking firm in Indonesia and Malaysia. Besides that, this study analyze the influence of CAR, NPL, BOPO, NIM and LDR to banking performance which is ROA as a proxy. This research using data from annual reports and financial reports from 15 largest bank in Indonesia and Malaysia and from Bankscope Database period 2009-2013. This comparative analysis method using independent sample t test, the result showed that they were significant differences of ROA, BOPO, NIM and LDR between Indonesia and Malaysia banking firm and there were no differences of CAR and NPL between Indonesia and Malaysia banking firm. For associative analysis, a panel method will be applied, using chow test and hausman test show that Fixed Effect as a model regression. The result of this research shows that CAR, NPL and BOPO variables has a negative significant influence to ROA in Indonesia banking firm but CAR has negative no significant to ROA in Malaysia banking firm and also LDR variable has a negative significant effect to ROA in Indonesia and Malaysia. In NIM variable case, has a positive coefficient and significant to ROA in Indonesia and Malaysia. Key words: Banking performance, CAR, NPL, BOPO, LDR
