Abstract

ABSTRACT ROBBY HIDAYAT. Comparison of Efficiency Conventional Commercial Banks with Islamic Commercial Banks and The Influencing Factors. Faculty of Economics, Universitas Negeri Jakarta 2016. This study aimed to compare the efficiency of conventional commercial banks with Islamic banks as well as to analyze the influence of the capital adequacy ratio, funding provided and quality of credit management on the efficiency of conventional commercial banks and Islamic banks. This study was conducted over 5 years (2010-2014) using secondary data such as banking annual reports and quarterly financial statements of the bank from Financial Services Authority. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling thus obtained 10 samples of conventional commercial banks and seven Islamic banks with total observation of 85 banks.. The efficiency level of the bank as Dependent Variables in this study was calculated using the method of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with the assumption of Constant Return to Scale (CRS) and the measurement of output oriented. While the Independent Variables are Capital Adequacy Ratio proxied by the Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR), Financing Provided proxied by the Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR) and Finance to Deposit Ratio (FDR), and Quality of Management Credit proxied by the Non Performing Loan (NPL) and Non Performing Financing (NPF). Data analysis techniques used in this study consisted of Data Envelopment Analysis, Mann-Whitney Test, and Tobit Regression Model.. The results of the model Tobit regression analysis showed that the capital adequacy ratio and the quality of credit management have a significant negative effect on the efficiency of conventional commercial banks. Loans provided have a positive and significant effect on the efficiency of conventional commercial banks. On the other hand, the funding provided was also a significant positive effect on the efficiency of Islamic commercial banks. Meanwhile, capital adequacy ratio and quality of management financing have no effect to the level of efficiency of Islamic commercial banks.Otherwise, the result of DEA analysis indicate that the conventional commercial banks are more efficient than an Islamic commercial bank. Keywords : Data Envelopment Analysis, Bank Efficiency, Capital Adequacy Ratio, Financing Provided, and Quality of Management Credit, Conventional Bank, Islamic Bank.
