Abstract

Finda Nur Rachma, 2011; The Influence of Profit Margin and Book Value of Equity on Market Value (Research in Index LQ 45 and The Straits Times Index 2007-2009.) The purpose of this research is to obtain information about how far the influence between profit margin and book value of equity to market value of the companies that are included in the LQ 45 (Indonesia) and The Straits Times Index (Singapore) from 2007 to 2009 and to see a comparison between two independent variables that affect the companies which are included in the LQ 45 and The Straits Times Index. LQ 45 Index and the Straits Times Index are index which classify companies with blue chip shares and has the best performance. This study uses secondary data from financial statements of companies listed on the LQ 45 and The Straits Times Index. The method used is a quantitative method with the approach of regression. The sampling technique was purposive sampling with a population of about 45 companies from LQ 45 and 30 companies from The Straits Times Index. Regression results of this research is the profit margin and book value of equity simultaneously have a significant influence on both LQ 45 Index and in The Straits Times Index. Results of hypothesis testing showed: 1) profit margin and book value of equity significantly don’t affect the market value at the LQ 45 2) profit margin and book value of equity significantly affect the market value in The Straits Times Index 3) In the profit margin LQ 45 Index and the net book value equity has the effect of 9%, but at The Straits Times Index influential by 18%.
