Abstract

NINING KURNIA NINGSIH. Analysis of Factors Affecting Export Diversification in ASEAN Countries. Economic Education, Faculty of Economics, Jakarta State University, 2019. In some developing countries export diversification has been studied in order to improve their economic performance in order to achieve higher development. In facing global uncertainty, developing countries need to encourage economic growth by increasing industry and by changing the economic structure, namely by diversifying exports, which is a process of economic development through structural transformation from producing primary products to manufacturing products. This study aims to determine the effect of technology variables, human capital and exchange rates on export diversification in several ASEAN countries in 2005 - 2017. This study uses multiple regression analysis to determine the relationship between technology variables, human capital, exchange rates and export diversification variables. The results of this study indicate that based on the calculation results, the influence of technology has a significant effect. The result of the significance test (t test) of 0.000 during the period shows that all independent variables have a significant effect on the dependent variable, namely technology, human capital and exchange rate variables have a significant effect on the export diversification variable in eight ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia) in 2005-2017. Technology, human capital and exchange rates simultaneously have a negative and significant effect on export diversification in eight ASEAN countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, Singapore, Brunei and Malaysia) in 2005-2017. Keywords: Export Diversification, Manufacturing Industry, Technology, Human Capital, Exchange Rate
