Abstract

ABSTRACT RIA HAPSARI. The Influence of Motivation and Job Satisfaction to Work Discipline by Employees Working at PT. Asuransi Purna Artanugraha. Thesis, Jakarta : Study Program of Economics Education. Concentrations in Education of Office Administration. Economics and Administration Departement, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta,2013. This study aims to determine whether there is the influence of motivation and job satisfaction to work discipline at PT. Asuransi Purna Artanugraha. The method of research is survey method with correlation approach. The populations research was all of employees PT. Asuransi Purna Artanugraha, as many as 55 employees. The sampling technique was done by using random proportional (proportional random sampling). Samples were taken of 48 employees based on a 5% error level. For data motivation variable (X1) and job satisfaction (X2) obtained through questionner shaped instrument. For data work discipline (Y) obtained from PT. Asuransi Purna Artanugraha. Before used, that it has construct validity test by validation process, that is correlation test using Alpha Cronbach formula. Reliability X1 variable (motivation) is 0.837 and the reliability X2 variable (job satisfaction) is 0.788. Test requirements analysis is performed by finding the regression equation obtained was Y = 31,360 + 0,376 X 1 + 0,304 X2. Based on results of normality test of significance test results are known the value of work discipline (Y), motivation (X1), job satisfaction (X2), and the significance of the residuals is 0.190, 0.151 and 0.200 which are all more than the 0.05 H0 accepted then the data means the data are normallly distributed. From the results of the t test, thitung of motivation (3,257) > ttabel (1,671) so H0 is rejected,the conclusion that motivation has a significant positive effect on work achievement, thitung of job satisfaction (2,835) > t tabel (1,671) so H0 is rejected, the conclusion that job satisfaction had a significant positive effect on work discipline. The results of hypothesis testing of two variables, motivation and job satisfaction to simultaneously have an influence on work discipline is viewed from Fhitung (15,218) > Ftabel (3,20). Then the partial variable motivation have thitung = 3,257 and has job satisfaction have thitung = 2,835 with ttabel = 1,671 where a separate state significance (thitung > ttabel ) means that ecah independent variable is the motivation and job satisfaction have a significant positive effect on dependent variable is work discipline. The results of these studies concluded that there is a positive influence between motivationand job satisfaction. With a decisive test of the coefficient of determination or results obtained 40.3% work discipline variable (Y) is determined by motivation (X1) and job satisfaction (X2).
