Abstract

ABSTRACT ARIANI JULIA DEWI. The Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence With Job Stress on Employee At PT. Bakrie Tosanjaya Cakung Plant. Skripsi, Jakarta: Economics Education Studies Program. Concentrations of Education Administrative Office. Department of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, 2012. This research conducted to get a valid and reliable data or fact, to know the relationship between emotional intelligence with job stress on employee at PT. Bakrie Tosanjaya Cakung Plant. This research has been done for 2 months since May until July 2012. The method of research is survey method with correlation approach. The populations research was all of employees at PT. Bakrie Tosanjaya Cakung Plant with total 150 employees, and the target populations were employees in production with total 82 employees with 65 employees as sample. Samples were taken using simple random sampling. For collecting between 2 variabel of this research, instrument used for variable X (Emotional Intelligence) and Y (Job Stress) with a Likert Scale. Variable X (Emotional Intelligence) instrument was measured by Wong-Law Emotional Intelligence Scale (WLEIS) developed by Wong and Law with reliability 0,845 And for this research the reliability was 0,76. While variable X (Job Stress) instrument was measured by Job Stress Scale (JSS) developed by Parker dan Decotiis with reliability 0,82. And for this research the reliability was 0,85. The analysis test by finding regression equation, that is Y= 80,81-0,720X. Aftrer that data normality test by using Lilliefoers formula and the result is L = 0,054, while L table for n = 65 in significance level 0.05 is = 0.109. Throgh L < L so regression X and Y has normal distribution. The regression significance test and the result is, F table, count (23,76) > F (4,00). Showing that, it has significance regression. While regression linearity test F (1,55) < F (1,84), showing that regression is linear. The result of Product Moment of correlation coefficient test r table continued by using correlation coefficient test with t-test. Counting result is, t = (-4,87) while t table = (-1,67) and so, -t count < -t table. = -0,523 It means that there are significance and negative correlation between emotional intelligence and job stress. The results of these research concluded that there is a negative relationship between emotional intelligence with job stress of the employee. With a coefficient of determination or test results obtained by determining 27.39% of job stress (Y) is determined by emotional intelligence (X).
