Abstract

RAHMAWATI FITRIA. The Correlation Between Self-Esteem with Motivation to Learn. Pre Thesis. Jakarta. Study Program of Economic Education, Concentration in Accounting Education, Department of Economic and Administration, Faculty of Economic, Universitas Negeri Jakarta, July 2013. This research conducted to describe the correlation between self-esteem with motivation to learn at SMK Bina Insan Mandiri. This research uses the quantitative research with an ex post facto data and a correlation approach. While proportional random sampling is research techniques. The attainable populations are the students of SMK Bina Insan Mandiri, class X Competence Program of Accounting, consist of two classes with 80 ctudents in total. Based on Isaac and Michael table, sample used in this research are 65 students, with 32 students to accounting class 1 and 33 students for accounting class 2. Regression equations result is Ŷ = 49,77 + 0,63X. By virtue of that equation, normality test by using liliefors test results, Lo < Lt (0,0634 < 0,1099). It shows that the data had been normally distributed. For linearity regression test, the result is Fh < Ft (-1,35 < 1,82), so, it indicated that the data had been linear. While for the regression significant test, the result is Fh > Ft (32,18 > 3,99). It indicated that the data had been significant. The result of correlation coefficient test of product moment by Pearson is r = 0,565, which it means there is a positive correlation between selfconcept with learning achievement. The calculation of t-test showed that t xy > t table , 5,30 < 1,67. It shows there is a significance correlation between self-esteem with motivation to lear at SMK Bina Insan Mandiri. The calculation of determination coefficient test results 37,42%, so that motivation to learn effected by the selfesteem at the rate of 37,42%. Can be concluded this study shows that there is a positive and significant relationship between self-esteem and motivation to learn at SMK Bina Insan Mandiri. Self-esteem is one of the factors affecting motivation to learn deserves to be developed both in terms of self-worth and self-competence so hopefully students can earn a maximum of motivation to learn. For researchers are expected to develop this research further by using more samples or by adding another variable that becomes one of the factors that influence learning achievement such as attitude, interest and self-concept. Expected to perform a variety of research, in high school or middle school or elementary school.
