Abstract

Noviana Dewi Paraswati, 2012: The effect of international status, firm age, and financial leverage on earnings management (of manufactur companies in Asia listed on New York Stock Exchange in 2009-2010). Advisor I; Rida Prihatni, SE.Akt., M.Si., Advisor II ; Nuramalia Hasanah, SE., M.Ak. The objective of this study is to examine the effect of international status, firm age, and financial leverage on earnings management. This study uses 26 listing firm between 2009 and 2010 in NYSE. This study using data sample from two years period of observation. Before doing a regression test, there is a test named assumption classic test, which consist of normality test, multicolinearity test, and heteroskedasticity test, if no problem found in assumption classic test, the next test is F test, R2, and t test. The result of this research shows that simultaneously, international status,firm age, and financial leverage do not influence earnings management. Partially, only financial leverage that significantly influences earnings management with the level of signification is 0,045. While international status and firm age do not significantly influence earnings management.
