Abstract

NIYA IRMAYANTI, Correlation Between Self Esteem with Achievement Motivation in Students of SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta, Scription. Jakarta: Business Administration Study Program, Department of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, July 2012. This study aims to determine the relationship between Self-Esteem with Achievement Motivation in Studentsof SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta by using empirical data and genuine, valid and reliable facts. The research was conducted at SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta during four months from March until June 2012. The research uses survey method with the correlational approach. The sampling technique in this research is a simple random technique. The population in this study is students of SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta. The achievable population is 120 students of class X in Accounting Department. The samples used is 89 persons with 5% error level. Instrument used questionnaires which distributed to students of SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta to capture the data of X variable (Self-Esteem) and Y variable (Achievement Motivation), after that test of content validity was done through the validation process which was the calculation of the correlation coefficient score points with the total score and the reliability test by Alpha Cronbach formula. The reliability results of the variable X (Self-Esteem) is 0.841. Meanwhile, the reliability results of variable Y (Achievement Motivation) is 0.946. Test requirements analysis is performed by finding the regression equation obtained was Y = 39.38 + 0.79 X. Next step is a normality test of estimated regression error on X by using the Liliefors test and earned Lcount = 0.0878 compared with Ltable on the 5% significance level of 0.09392, as Lcount < Ltable, then the error estimate of Y on X is normally distributed. While the linear regression test results Fcount < Ftable, is -1.25 < 2.03 means regression model which used is linear. Significance regression test results Fcount > Ftable, is 26.34 > 4.05, this proves that the regression is significant. Test correlation coefficient of Product Moment results rxy of 0.482 then correlation significance test is performed by using t-test. The results obtained are tcount = 5.129, while the ttable on dk = n-2 = 89-2 = 87 and significance level of 0.05 is 1.671, means tcount > ttable. The calculation of the coefficient determination results rxy2 = 0.482 = 0.2322. This indicates that 23.22% variation in achievement motivation is determined by the self-esteem. Conclusions of this research is that there is a positive relationship between selfesteem with achievement motivation in students of SMK PGRI 28 Jakarta.
