Abstract

Zaenal Arief Magister Manajemen Universitas Negeri Jakarta E-mail: zaenal.arief@yahoo.com Abstract This research was motivated because of the phenomenon of the relatively low profitability of Islamic banks compared to conventional banks in Indonesia, besides that due to the differences in the results of previous studies on the factors affecting the profitability (ROA, ROE, PBT, NNIM). This study uses independent variables with internal factors consist of equity / assets (EQTA), moderating variables (EQAGDP), Loan ratio (LOANTA), moderating variable LONGDP, ratio of none-interest earning assets to total assets (NIEATA), moderating variables NIEAGDP, the ratio of consumer and short-term funding to total assets (CSTFTA), moderating variable CSTFGDP, overhead (OVRHD), moderating variable OVRGDP, total liabilities / total assets (LATA), Moderating LATAGDP. External variable is the gross domestic product (GDP) annual growth rate of real GDPPC (GDPPGR), the annual Inflation rate (INF), moderating variable INFGDP) required reserves and financial structure of banking system (RES), moderating with RESGDP, the total taxes paid Divided by before tax profits for each bank (TAX), moderating variables TAXGDP, number of banks (BANK), moderating variables BANKGDP, NUMBER, CONCEN, CREDIT. The added value of this research is to try to analyze the factors that are more dominant in influencing profitability. This study uses secondary data by using purposive sampling so that the samples are 11 Islamic banks companies during the period 2008-2012. The study concluded that internal factors are the factors stronger influence on profitability due to variables that support more simultaneous testing after EQTA factors, NIEATA, OVERHD, NIEAGDP, CSTFGDP, LATA, LATAGDP, LONGDP, OVRGD significant positive effect. While TAX, concen, INFLATION and INFGDP are the external factors that affect the profitability. It can be3 concluded that the internal factor 9 (Nine) variable is an influential factor and significant impact on profitability. Managerial implications of this research is to improve the profitability of Islamic banks, the role of capital, financing, short-term funding must be considered, namely with the addition of the owners of capital, an increase in third-party funds (DPK), increased financing, funding and manufacture of landing a more varied with margins and profit sharing are more competitive Keywords: Return on assets (ROA), Return on equity (ROE), profit before taxes (PBT), net non-interest margin (NNIM), internal factors, external factors and moderating factors.
