Abstract

ABSTRACT SITI SAPTARI QOMARIAH. The Influence of the Quality of Learning Media and Students’ Interest in Learning on Learning Outcomes in Economics Subject at Class X IIS SMAN 12 Jakarta. Concentration of Cooperative Economics Education, Study Program of Economics Education, Department of Economics and Administration, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta, 2015. This study aims to determine how much influence the quality of learning media and interest in learning towards the learning outcomes at senior high school level. The study was conducted from March to May 2015 at SMA Negeri 12 Jakarta. The method used was a survey with the correlational approach. The instrument used in the study was a questionnaire. The questionnaire’s validity was examined by using the formula of product moment and its reliability was tested by using Alpha Cronbach. The result of the reliability test was 0,893 for the instrument of learning media quality and 0.903 for the instrument of learning interest. This meant that the level of the questionnaire’s reliability was high. The study population was class X IIS 1, X IIS 2 and X IIS 3, with the total of 108 students. Sampling was conducted by using total sampling technique or census which is a method of collecting all elements by investigating them one by one, of which the result is the actual data, or so-called parameter. This study used path analysis techniques (Path Analysis) where the quality of learning media directly influenced the outcome of learning, interest in learning also influenced learning outcomes directly, and the quality of learning media directly influenced the interest in learning. The results showed that the magnitude of the quality of learning media (X1) which directly affected the outcome of learning was 0.409 2 = 0.167 or 16.7%, the influence of learning interest (X2) which directly affected the outcome of learning was 0.355 2 = 0.126 or 12.6%, and the influence of the quality of learning media (X1) on learning outcomes (Y) moderated by the interest in learning (X2) was 0.154 or 15.4%. The influence of media quality and interest in learning altogether towards student learning outcomes can be seen from the coefficient of determination (R2), at 0.421, showing that the variation in student learning outcomes can be explained by the quality of learning media and learning interest, at 42.1%, while the other 57.9% was determined by other factors which were not examined. Simultaneously, the strength of the relation between the variable of learning media quality, learning interest and learning outcomes was strong, amounting for 0.649.
