Abstract
ABSTRACT This studyaims to determine the effect ofleveleducation and economic growthto labor absorptionin ASEAN in 2006-2013, either partially or simultaneously. This study uses a model Ex Post Facto with path analysis with a quantitative approach. Collecting data using techniques of documentation in the form of an annual report published by The ASEAN Secretariat Office and The World Bank. The population in this study is from seven countries in the region of Southeast Asia which totaled 56 data samples. The results of the study state that the variable level of education has no effect on the variable of economic growth; it does not fit the theory that education level can influence economic growth. Meanwhile, the variable level of education is partially has positive and significant effect on the labor absorption. Likewise, economic growth variables partially have positive and significant effect on the labor absorption. Simultaneously, the level of education and economic growth has positive and significant effect on it. The variable level of education to economic growth got results that do not fit the theory because of some things that might happen in countries in Southeast Asia region, such as poor quality of education and employment that is not in accordance with their capabilities.
