Abstract

ABSTRACT WIDIA PUJI LESTARI. The Correlation between Emotional Intelligence and Study Habits on Academic Achievement at Students of SMK Negeri 16 in Jakarta. Jakarta: Study Program of Business Education, Faculty of Economics, State University of Jakarta. 2018. This study aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and study habit on academic achievement at students of SMK Negeri 16 in Jakarta. This research used survey method with correlational approach. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 16 Jakarta. The population in this research were students of class XI SMK Negeri 16 Jakarta which numbered 210 students. While the sample in this study is 131 students. The sampling technique was used simple random sampling. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires for emotional intelligence study habits variables. While for the variable of academic achievement was used secondary data based on a evaluation report of students of class XI from the school. Data analysis techniques performed using SPSS version 25. Based on result of data analysis known that: (1) There is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and academic achievement with r = 0.704 and tcount (6,043) > ttable (1,66). (2) There is a positive and significant relationship between study habits and academic achievement with r = 0.715 and tcount (6,445) > ttable (1,66). (3) There is a positive and significant relationship between emotional intelligence and study habits with academic achievement, with the values obtained for Fcount > Ftable or 104,212 > 3,07. Multiple regression equation obtained was Ŷ = 60,308 + 0,200 (X1) + 0,112 (X2). The correlation between emotional intelligence and study habits with academic achievement obtained from the result of determination (R2 ) is 0,620. The ability of the variable emotional intelligence and study habits to describe the simultaneous of academic achievement by 62%, while the rest influenced by other factors outside of emotional intelligence and study habits.
