Abstract

ABSTRAK GINA FEBRI SETYAWATI. The Significance of Mind Map Methods on Economic Learning Motivation (An Experimental Study upon X Grade Students at SMAN 83 Jakarta Utara). Faculty of Economic, State University of Jakarta. 2012. This study aims to identify the difference of students’ economic learning motivation upon a learning process employing mind map methods and lecturing methods, and to examine the significance of mind map methods upon the economic learning motivation of X grade students at SMAN 83 Jakarta Utara. This study employs an experiment study. Observation on the economic learning motivation of X grade students at SMAN 83 was performed through economic learning treatment occupying mind map methods and conventional methods in the experimental group, which was class X.1; and the control group, which was class X.5. The data collection techniques used observation and questionnaires. While the data analysis method utilized descriptive statistical analysis and difference test employing One Way Anova. The results of descriptive analysis suggested that: (a) the test upon the data of economic learning motivation belonging to the experimental group consisting of 30 respondents generated the Lcount which was 0.095 and the Ltable which was 0.161 with the significance level of 0.05. Therefore Lcount < Ltable so that the data of economic learning motivation had normal distribution, (b) the similarity between the two population variance of the two groups generated Ftable = F (0.05)(29 ; 29) = 1.85 and Fcount which was 1.015 because Fcount < Ftable hence both of the population distribution had the same variance or homogenous. The results of One Way Anova suggested that there was the difference in the economic learning motivation of the experimental group which was 34.62 and thus fcount > ftable . Then, t-test analysis was performed employing Dunnet which generated the value that was 8.28 in which tcount was higher than ttable meaning that the experimental group significantly was higher than the control group.
