Abstract
The influence of Leadership Style and Work Environment on the Performance of Soldiers with Work Discipline as Intervening Variables (A Case Study on The Escort Ship Squadron of the 2nd Fleet Command) Andi Abdul Aziz Master of Management, Jakarta State University, Indonesia andiaaziz38@gmail.com Prof. Dr. Dedi Purwana ES,M.Bus Master of Management, Jakarta State University, Indonesia Dr. I Ketut R. Sudiarditha M.Si Master of Management, Jakarta State University, Indonesia ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the influence of leadership style and work environment on soldier performance mediated by work discipline. The method in this study uses a quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to 260 respondents who are KRI soldiers on the Satuan Kapal Eskorta Komando Armada II. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed descriptively and quantitatively. Descriptive analysis is used to describe the characteristics of respondents and research variables based on the results of the questionnaire, and quantitative analysis using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) analysis with the AMOS and SPSS program. Based on results analysis, it was concluded that leadership style does not significantly influence work discipline, while the work environment has a positive effect on work discipline. Further results show that the work environment and work discipline have a positive effect on soldier performance, while the leadership style has no effect on soldier performance. In further testing, the results of mediation tests using the Sobel test show that work discipline engagement can mediate the influence of leadership style and work environment on performance. This can show that an increase in leadership style and work environment can improve work discipline which will further improve the performance of soldiers. However, this research still needs to be developed by adding other variables and also expanding respondents or changing objects or places of research.
